EMPLOYMENT RECORD:

2008 to present: ADJUNCT PROFESSOR – Columbia College, Chicago. IL. Taught lecture courses: Documentary & Social Change; Documentary Storytelling; Ethnographic Film. Taught production course in Ethnographic Film Production. Currently teaching The Music Documentary in the Film & Video Department undergraduate program.

2007: ADJUNCT PROFESSOR – California State University San Bernardino, San Bernardino, CA. Created and taught a production course in Ethnographic Filmmaking for the Anthropology Department undergraduate program. The area is a subgenre of documentary filmmaking used to present ethnographic research findings done as part of a social scientists ethnography or dissertation research.

2005 - PRESENT: WRITER/FILMMAKER – owner of Ethnofilms (www.ethnofilms.com). Ethnofilms is a part-time run independent production co. of culturally significant visual stories with specialization in the ethnographic and experimental. In addition, Ethnofilms produces a "literature on film" series for young viewers and short films. In production; "Going Home (to My Second Home)" a cinema vérité oral history documentary of the State Orphans Home class of 1938 reunion in Corsicana TX. In development: a screenplay for an animated feature for ages 4-8. In distribution: a short bio-doc of The Life & Writings of Katherine Mansfield that includes a short film adaptation of her work Miss Brill (completed Feb 2006) and chosen for KidsFirst.Org 3rd Quarter Traveling Film Festival (it is the first of the "literature on film" series for Ethnofilms). In partnership with Alla Faccia Productions LLC NY, hired to shoot and produce promotional cooking videos for "Benny the Chef!" as well as create, maintain and market the www.bennythechef.com website.

2005: SCREENPLAY ANALYST – Dan L. Paulson Productions, Santa Monica, CA. Served a 5 month internship as part of the MFA Screenwriting degree requirements. Read screenplays; wrote a story synopsis and evaluation coverage for each.

95 - 99: WRITER/PHOTOGRAPHER/VIDEOGRAPHER – Freelance for all markets (professional & non-profit): corp. videos, commercials, features, print ads, training manuals, museum brochures, technical manuals, newsletters, articles, incl. photography, graphic design, publication; film editing/video-editing and multi-track sound recording (proficiency in MS Word, Final Draft, EP Budgeting (film production budgeting software), Excel, PageMaker, Adobe PhotoShop/Illustrator, Adobe Premiere Pro & others).

92 - 94: DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & ADVERTISING – Executed all advertising projects from concept/layout/design to photography and printing of catalogs, product packaging materials, and promos. Produced ads for national trade magazine ads for both the retail/dealer and commercial/builder divisions. Principal contact for all PR/media. Reported directly to Pres/Owner. Worked with Sales VP creating & expediting materials for national promotions. Selected & supervised vendor projects, wrote copy/press releases. (91) - EXPRESS FURNITURE RENTAL, Pomona, CA: Hired as a Project Director; set up special division of corporate relocation services.

90 - 91: DIRECTOR OF MARKETING & SALES - FIRST CHOICE INNS HOTELS - Handled all marketing/sales and headed in-house ad agency (direct mail, promos, and all PR).

86 - 90: MARKETING COORDINATOR - EXPRESS FURNITURE RENTAL, So. CA. Handled all advertising, promotions, editor of company newsletter, and headed in-house ad agency. Wrote & produced training videos including principal photos and trained sales staff.

Expertise: lighting/flash photography. Wrote & produced slide presentations. Traveled Virginia as instructor for the Ritz Camera Photo School. Transferred to Northridge to do the same for the So.Ca. district.
